Back before the days of limited edition inserts and jersey cards, you could head down to the drugstore with a few quarters in your pocket and buy yourself a couple packs of baseball cards. Inside that waxy wrapper was hope that you'd find a piece of cardboard with your favorite player's face on it (and that the bubble gum inside that pack of Topps wasn't too stale).
Seriously though, was there any greater thrill than tearing open a pack of baseball cards as a kid?
